Matthew Gordon and Peter Wood were jailed for seven-and-a-half years and five years respectively on 27 January 2017. The two men, said by Mr Justice Langstaff, to have a cavalier attitude to maintaining vehicles, were each convicted of four counts of manslaughter on 22 of December 2016, following a five-week trial. The brakes on the Scania lorry involved in the fatal crash, suffered a catastrophic failure as a consequence of a failure to maintain them on the part of both men.
