Albion Chambers Crime Team Seminar
Wednesday, 9 June 2021 – 5:00-6:00pm – via Zoom webinar
The Domestic Abuse Act was signed into law on 29 April 2021. This landmark legislation aims to provide greater protection for victims of domestic abuse and to strengthen measures to tackle perpetrators. The Act creates offences of non-fatal strangulation and threatening to disclose sexual photographs, removes the so-called “rough sex defence” to offences against the person, and introduces a new Domestic Abuse Protection Order.
This new legislation will have a wide-reaching impact on all criminal practitioners. This seminar will provide an overview of the key provisions and a discussion of how they are likely to be implemented in practice.
A question and answer session will be hosted by Charley Pattison and Rupert Russell.
