Albion Chambers were very pleased to arrange the University of Bristol Criminal Justice Society Criminal Advocacy Competition this year. The first round required students to submit a written skeleton argument concerning the law of evidence. The four selected finalists were then given an opportunity to demonstrate their oral advocacy skills in a real Courtroom at Bristol Crown Court in a mooting contest judged (and prosecuted!) by members of Albion’s Crime Team, before coming back to Chambers for the results and presentation. The winner will be offered a mini-pupillage in Chambers.

Edd Hetherington, Head of the Albion Crime Team said: “We are delighted to have been able to arrange this competition, and to see the extremely high standard of advocacy among these students. Their enthusiasm is very impressive and we hope to see some of them among our pupillage applicants in the future. Albion are committed to doing all that we can in order to encourage potential future barristers to pursue their ambitions.”
